A Grayville woman remains behind bars following a court appearance Thursday after her arrest in connection with a domestic incident the previous evening.
Grayville Police responded to an Oxford Street residence just before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday regarding an active domestic situation. Officers arriving at the scene made contact with a juvenile victim who displayed visible marks on her arms, as well as a second juvenile witness who provided officers with a pair of scissors allegedly used during the incident.
Police then spoke with the alleged aggressor, 36-year-old Tiffany Downs. According to the police report, Downs appeared intoxicated and repeatedly told officers to “take me to jail.” The juvenile victim was released to her legal guardians, and Downs was arrested on charges of Domestic Battery and Assault.
Downs appeared in court Thursday morning for her initial hearing. While court documents indicated she could be released, Grayville Police say Downs was on parole at the time of the incident. A no bond warrant was issued, keeping her in custody.
Downs is scheduled to return to court for a preliminary hearing on May 13th.
