On March 24th, members of the Edwards County FFA traveled to Springfield, Illinois, to take part in Ag Legislative Day. During their visit, the students toured the Illinois State Capitol Building and had the opportunity to discuss the importance of increased funding for agricultural programs with state lawmakers.

The FFA group met with Representative Angelica Guerrero-Cuellar, who shared insights from her time in office, as well as Senator Terri Bryant and Representative Dave Severin. Both Bryant and Severin listened to students’ perspectives on current agricultural legislation and engaged in discussions about the future of ag policy in Illinois.

Participating Edwards County FFA members included Hallie Shelton, Hayley Perry, Grace McCarty, Chloe Iles, Cheyenne Duncan, Carlin St. Ledger, Alexis Rivera, Owen Lynch, Cody Greathouse, and Quentin Pike. The event offered students a unique chance to connect with lawmakers and advocate for the needs of the agricultural community.
