The Illinois Eastern Community Colleges district, which includes Frontier Community College in Fairfield, is mourning the death of its former Chief Executive Officer, Terry L. Bruce, who passed away on Friday.
Bruce had served as the CEO of the Illinois Eastern Community Colleges from 1996 until his retirement in 2019. Over the 23 year period, Bruce guided the district through a period of significant transformation while maintaining a strong commitment to students, employees, and the communities served by the IECC.
Bruce had also served on the Illinois Community College Board, including a period as Vice Chair. He had previously served in the Illinois Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives.
Funeral services for Terry L. Bruce will be 10 am Saturday, April 25 at the Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney. Visitation will be 5-7 Friday evening, April 24 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home.
