The Albion City Council held a special meeting Monday night to discuss potential raises for city workers and to review the proposed employee health insurance renewal plan. After meeting in executive session, the council voted to approve a $1.00 per hour raise for all city workers. In addition, the council agreed to renew the current health insurance plan, which costs the city $15,539.00 per month in premiums.

During the regular session, the council also learned that the city is facing a significant loss of water revenue. The closing of Champion Laboratories is expected to result in a $62,000 decrease in annual water revenue for Albion.
