Freddie E. Bradford, 86, of Keenes

Freddie E. Bradford, 86, of Keenes, IL, passed away at 8:14 am April 21, 2026 at his residence. He was born in Bluford, Illinois on October 24, 1939 to Earl and Violet Mildred (Minor) Bradford. He married Dorothy June McKinney on December 24, 1959 and she preceded him in death on July 10, 2024.

Freddie is survived by his daughter, Lisa Feather of Carbondale, Illinois, son, Mike Bradford and wife Melody of Keenes, Illinois, daughter, Michelle Sheeler and husband Keith of Salem, Illinois and son, Bert Haynes and wife Judy of Bluford, Illinois, son, Dave Gammon and wife Staci of Wayne City, Illinois and son, Roy Evans and wife Lisa of Johnsonville, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Randy Feather and wife Renee of Makanda, Illinois, Brandi Swift of Murphysboro, Illinois, Tyler Bradford and significant other Amber Mayhew of Glen Carbon, Illinois, Nicole Mack and husband Carson of Mascoutah, Illinois, Joshua Sapp of Salem, Illinois, Lindsey Riddle and husband Dustin of Salem, Illinois and Traser Sheeler of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; twelve great grandchildren, Charlotte June, Olen Feather, Liam Swift, Violet Mayhew, Naomi Mack, Ada Mack, Kyler Sapp, Hadleigh Sapp, Madilyn Deters, Amelia Deters, Leah Riddle and Blaire Riddle; brother, John Bradford and wife Peggy and his beloved “Junkyard” the cat.

Freddie was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Jeffrey “Bo” Dean Bradford and one infant sibling.

Freddie worked as an over the road truck driver and also worked most of his life as a mechanic. He was a man of few words, but his life was full of selfless acts.

A Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2026 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Rev. Don Rector will officiate. Interment will follow at Salem Mateer Cemetery in rural Wayne County, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Freddie’s honor to Salem Mateer Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, Illinois 62864.
