The National Weather Service is warning residents to prepare for a significant severe weather event arriving this (Monday) evening and continuing into tonight. The forecast calls for the possibility of large hail, damaging winds, and strong tornadoes across the region.
Breezy conditions are expected throughout today, with wind gusts ranging from 25 to 35 mph and some areas potentially seeing gusts over 40 mph. Another round of severe storms is possible Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday evening, bringing the chance for additional large hail and damaging winds, though the overall risk is expected to be lower than today’s event.
Total rainfall from these storm systems could range from 1.5 to 3.0 inches, contributing to the risk of localized flooding.
Following the storms, temperatures for the remainder of the week will be much cooler, with highs trending slightly below normal in the upper 60s to lower 70s. A weak disturbance may bring rain showers on Friday, but otherwise, high pressure is expected to bring calmer and more pleasant weather conditions heading into the weekend. Temperatures are forecast to return to near normal by next Sunday.
Residents are urged to stay weather-aware, monitor local forecasts, and be prepared to take shelter if severe weather warnings are issued.
