FELONY CASE AGAINST FORMER WABASH COUNTY DEPUTY CHASE CHEADLE DELAYED AGAIN

By Mark Wells Apr 27, 2026 | 11:58 AM

The felony case against former Wabash County Sheriff’s Deputy Chase Cheadle has been postponed once more, with the next court date set for June 18th in Wabash County Circuit Court.

The latest delay was announced after Special Prosecutor Brian Towne informed the court he could not attend the previously scheduled pre-trial conference. This marks another setback in a case that has faced repeated postponements since late 2024.

Cheadle, a former K-9 handler, was originally charged with eight counts, including official misconduct, theft, cruelty to animals, and animal owner duties—five of which were felonies. In June 2025, two felony theft counts and one official misconduct charge were dismissed at the prosecutor’s request.

Cheadle, 31, was arrested following an investigation into the July 2024 death of his police K-9, Kiki. He resigned from the sheriff’s department the following month. The case continues to move forward as it awaits its next hearing in June.
