EDWARDS COUNTY FFA LIVESTOCK TEAM COMPETES IN SPRING EVENTS

Members of the Edwards County FFA livestock judging team stayed busy from February through April, competing in a series of contests across the region.

The season began February 2nd at the Beef Expo. The team later competed at Lakeland on March 4th, placing 15th overall, and followed that with a showing at Western Illinois University, where they were recognized as the 15th gold team.

On April 9th, Edwards County competed at the Lincoln Livestock Competition, finishing 27th overall. The following day, the team turned in one of its strongest performances at the Section 23 Livestock Judging Competition, placing second overall. Individually, Hallie Shelton placed 6th, Cheyenne Duncan 7th, and Chloe Iles 9th.

Also on April 10th, the team competed at Newton, earning a 4th place finish, with Shelton placing 15th individually. The next week, Edwards County placed 5th overall at the Murray competition.

On April 17th, the team traveled to Southern Illinois University, where the varsity team placed 2nd overall and the junior varsity team placed 5th. Individually, Chloe Iles finished 2nd, Cody Greathouse placed 7th, and Grace McCarty placed 8th.

The season concluded April 24th at the state competition, where Edwards County placed 39th overall and earned a blue ranking.
