38 Special Playing Free Concert At 2026 Illinois State Fair

(Springfield, IL) — 38 Special will be playing a free concert at the Illinois State Fair this summer. The legendary southern rock band will take the Grandstand stage on August 17th. 38 Special has sold over 20 million albums that included hits like “Hold On Loosely,” “Caught Up in You,” “Rockin’ Into the Night,” “If I’d Been the One,” and “Second Chance.” The 2026 Illinois State Fair is being held August 13th through 23rd in Springfield.

IDOL Recovers $400K in Back Wages

(Springfield, IL) — The Illinois Department of Labor is touting the recovery of hundreds of thousands of dollars in back wages. IDOL announced it recovered 398-thousand-dollars in unpaid wages and assessed penalties against three employers found in violation of the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act. The wages were owed to 29 workers from General Energy Corp in DuPage County, Lake of Egypt Docks in Jackson County, and Empire Electric in Henry County.

Johnson Lobbies Lawmakers About Keeping Bears In Chicago

(Chicago, IL) — Mayor Brandon Johnson is trying to convince state lawmakers that Chicago is the best place for the Bears. The mayor lobbied legislative leaders yesterday in Springfield to reject the so-called “mega projects bill” that would help the Bears build a new stadium in Arlington Heights. Johnson said there’s a benefit for everyone if the Bears remain in Chicago because the city is an economic driver for the entire state. The mayor also urged lawmakers to increase the city’s share of state revenue and advance several new city taxing authorities.

Illinois State Museum Route 66 Exhibit Opens May 23

(Springfield, IL) — The Illinois State Museum is kicking off a new exhibit on Route 66 later this month. “Miles of Memories: Stories of Route 66” opens May 23rd. The exhibition highlights the experience of living, working and traveling along U.S. Route 66 during its heyday. It will feature Route 66 memorabilia, including vintage souvenirs, neon signs, fiberglass advertising figures and Burma-Shave signs.
