Utz Brands, Inc. and its subsidiary Utz Quality Foods, LLC are issuing a voluntary recall of certain limited varieties of Zapp’s and Dirty potato chips due to a potential Salmonella concern linked to a seasoning ingredient.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the recall was initiated after Utz was notified that a seasoning containing dry milk powder supplied by a third-party vendor may have been exposed to Salmonella. The ingredient originated from California Dairies, Inc.
.

Officials emphasized that the seasoning batches tested negative for Salmonella before being used in production. However, the company is recalling the affected products “out of an abundance of caution.”

The Food and Drug Administration says the recall is limited to specific varieties, production dates, and distribution codes. Consumers are encouraged to check product details and images through the FDA recall notice and discard or return any affected items.
