The Edwards County FFA Chapter honored its members on May 4 at the FFA Chapter Banquet, held at the high school. The current FFA officers then led the FFA Official Opening Ceremonies and began the awards presentation.
Parker Biggs gave the welcome. Chase Shelton recognized the farm sponsors. Those honored were Nutrien at Browns, Metcalf Farms, and Wabash Valley Service Company at Browns. Mrs. Wiseman distributed scholarships to the following seniors: Parker Biggs, Abby Gill, Wyatt Greathouse, Grace McCarty, Chase Shelton, Emily Spray, and Carlin St. Ledger. Owen Lynch then distributed Proficiency Awards to the following students: Conner Perkins, Cody Greathouse, Hayley Perry, Grace McCarty, Grant Doelling, Quentin Pike, Chase Shelton, Parker Biggs, Emily Spray, Levi Gill, Trey Landingham, and Hallie Shelton. Emily Spray awarded the Star Members. Chapter Star Farmer winner was Chase Shelton, Chapter Star in Agribusiness was Hayley Perry, and lastly, Chapter Star in Ag Placement was Cody Greathouse.

Chase Shelton then awarded the Star Greenhand to Hallie Shelton.
Carlin St. Ledger and Hayley Perry presented Chapter Degrees to the following members: Khloe Bassemier, Layla Beadles, Rocky Bell, Makayla Carrell, Cash Conner, Tyson Doan, Colton Hammond, Ridge Harl, Henleigh Howard, Alana Knasinski, Elizabeth Lagle, Trey Landingham, Kylee Moss, Alys Osmon, Hayley Perry, Olivia Rigg, Aidan Roosevelt, Kayleigh Sanford, Barnes Sawyer, Walker Sledge, Karlee Summerfield, Jacob Tennis, Kolby Terry, Marissa Walkenbach, Keyleigh Wood, and Everleigh Wright. Tammy Krouse was also given the Honorary Chapter FFA Degree for spending countless hours and going above and beyond to help the FFA.
Mrs. Wiseman recognized Cody Greathouse for his State FFA Degree. Cali Bunting, JW Simms-Reisner, Jake Wiseman, and Gabe Wyatt were also honored as they will receive their American Degree this coming fall. Mr. Clodfelter then presented Chase Shelton with the Dekalb Award. Next, Cody Greathouse passed out the Most Active Member Awards to Hallie Shelton, Hayley Perry, Quentin Pike, and Parker Biggs. He also distributed the Outstanding Member Awards to Sydney Williams, Trey Landingham, Cody Greathouse, and Chase Shelton. Carlin St. Ledger then showed a slide presentation of the past year’s activities.
New officers were installed. They are: Cody Greathouse – President; Quentin Pike – Vice President; Hayley Perry – Secretary; Hallie Shelton – Treasurer; Bristol Duncan – Reporter; Kayden Alexander – Sentinel; Aidan Roosevelt – Historian; Grant Doelling – Points Chair; and Sydney Williams – Student Advisor.. Closing Ceremonies were performed along with the Pledge of Allegiance.
