Illinois State Police Zone 8 Commander Holly Finney has announced the results of a recent Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement (ACE) detail conducted at various establishments in Wayne County last week. The enforcement effort was aimed at identifying businesses that may be selling alcoholic beverages to minors, with the overarching goals of enforcing underage drinking laws and preventing impaired driving incidents. Out of 15 locations surveyed, four businesses were found to have sold alcohol to minors. The following employees and establishments were cited:

Mariana Sanchez-Esquivel, Chavas Cantina and Grill in Fairfield

Kristy Churchwell, Jovalou in Fairfield

Rachel Esmon, Lonzo’s Place in Sims

Tyler Moyer, Midtown Package Liquors and Tobacco in Wayne City

Each employee was cited for Unlawful Delivery of Alcoholic Liquor to a Minor, a Class A misdemeanor, and released on a notice to appear in court.

The Illinois State Police commended those businesses and employees who complied with the law and refused to sell alcohol to minors. The ACE project is funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
