ILLINOIS SUPREME COURT TEMPORARILY SUSPENDS RICHLAND COUNTY ATTORNEY

The Illinois Supreme Court has temporarily suspended Paul Bishop II of Olney from practicing law following recent legal issues that called into question his fitness to continue as an attorney.

According to reports, Bishop pleaded guilty earlier this year to a drug-related charge. He was later ticketed for speeding, and during another traffic stop authorities allegedly discovered drug paraphernalia inside his vehicle.

The newer charges also reportedly violated the terms of Bishop’s probation tied to the earlier drug offense.

The Illinois Supreme Court determined the probation violation and pending charges made Bishop unfit to continue practicing law under Illinois law while the matter proceeds through the legal process.

The suspension remains temporary pending the outcome of further proceedings.
