The Jefferson County Historical Society will host its eighth annual Strawberry Festival, Plant Sale and Cruise-In on Saturday, May 23rd from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Historical Village in Mt. Vernon.
The event will feature strawberry shortcake, pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, and chili dogs, along with a large variety of plants, gardening items, and landscaping decorations for sale. Strawberries will also be available while supplies last.
Children and adults can receive free books in the schoolhouse, and children’s games will be available throughout the day.
A Cruise-In will take place behind the village near the red barn. Those interested in participating can contact Brian Burwell at 618-246-6622. Entry fees will be donation-based.
Historical village buildings and cabins will also be open for tours during the event.
Vendors scheduled to attend include Pokorney Kettle Corn, Barr’s Caramels, Blackberry Hollow Farm Products, Heather Tate Jewelry, Anna’s Crochet, Wafford Wood Working, and Wilson’s Gourds and Crafts.
