John R. Mehalek, 80, of Dahlgren, IL. passed away Saturday, May 16, 2026 at Deaconess Midtown, Evansville, Indiana.
John was born June 30, 1945 in Thermopolis, Wyoming a son of John Albert Mehalek and Dorothy (Branscom) Mehalek. On October 25, 1980 he married Violet (Hamson) Mehalek and she survives.
He was a self-employed truck driver, Tire repair Tech and a Real Estate Manager. He also was a member of the Belle Rive Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and going on cruises. He was a Nascar Enthusiast, loved to play pool and was a Golden Glove Boxer in his younger years.
Survivors include his wife Violet, children Robin Voigt, Mt. Vernon, IL., Turby Edmiston and husband Gary, Toole, Utah, John Alan Mehalek, Dahlgren, IL., Mary Ann Fox and husband Rory, Houston, Tx., Tim Glenn and wife Kay, Aurora, Co. and Kay Jones and husband Rob, Houston, Tx. also, a brother Jim Mehalek, Tuso, Arizona. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and two great greatgrandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents, sons Clifford Glenn, Scott Glenn and Sonny Cornell. Daughters Dottie Mehalek and Margie Wood. Also, two sisters preceded him in death.
Visitation for John Mehalek will be Wednesday, May 20, 2026 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro, IL. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 21, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro, Il. with Pastor Steve Hamson presiding. Burial will follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Dahlgren, IL.
