By Mark Wells May 19, 2026 | 5:50 AM

In response to the growing demand for CDL truck drivers in the Illinois Basin oil production industry, the Illinois Petroleum Resource Board (IPRB) has announced a new cost reimbursement program for CDL training and certification. The initiative is available to oil production companies contributing to the IPRB assessment.

Through this program, IPRB will reimburse qualifying companies for expenses up to $2,500 per employee seeking a CDL license. Eligible costs include training or schooling fees, required medical exams, DMV testing fees, and truck rental or access fees. To receive reimbursement, companies must provide proof that the employee has obtained a CDL license, is currently employed at the company, and submit receipts for all training, medical, and testing fees.

Interested qualifying companies are encouraged to text or call IPRB executive director Seth Whitehead at 618-367-4751 for more information.
