VFW, AMERICAN LEGION TO HOLD MEMORIAL DAY SERVICES IN EDWARDS COUNTY

Members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #8222 and Albion American Legion Post #590 will conduct annual Memorial Day services throughout Edwards County and the West Salem area to honor the nation’s veterans.

On Monday, May 25th, the groups will visit 12 cemeteries in Edwards County before conducting a public Memorial Day program at the Memorial Arch on the Edwards County Courthouse Square in Albion at 10 a.m., weather permitting.

The cemetery schedule for Monday includes: Birk at 7 a.m., Mt. Zion at 7:15 a.m., Wanborough at 7:30 a.m., Little Prairie at 7:45 a.m., Samaria Baptist at 8 a.m., Pleasant Hill at 8:15 a.m., West Village at 8:30 a.m., Bone Gap at 8:45 a.m., Union at 9 a.m., Browns at 9:15 a.m., Graceland at 9:30 a.m., and Old Albion at 9:45 a.m.

Nathaniel Trowbridge of Samaria Missionary Baptist Church will serve as the featured speaker for the Albion courthouse program.

The organizations will also conduct memorial services in the West Salem area on Sunday, May 24th.

That schedule includes ceremonies at Shiloh at 8:30 a.m., Ebenezer at 8:40 a.m., Macedonia at 9 a.m., Little Wabash at 9:15 a.m., Marion at 9:30 a.m., Parkersburg Oak Hill at 10 a.m., Walnut Grove at 10:15 a.m., Zion Church Cemetery at 11 a.m., and Moravian at 11:15 a.m. A closing ceremony at the Veterans Memorial on the West Salem Square is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
