A domestic-related shooting in rural Eldorado left one person dead and another injured on Saturday morning, according to Saline County Sheriff Whipper Johnson.
Authorities report that Saline County Central Dispatch received a call at approximately 10:56 a.m. regarding a domestic situation involving an active shooter. Deputies from the Saline County Sheriff’s Office, Harrisburg Police Department officers, and EMS personnel quickly responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, law enforcement found the suspected shooter deceased. Another individual, identified as the victim, was injured and transported to a hospital for treatment.
Sheriff Johnson addressed concerns about a possible connection to a separate burglary and shooting incident in Raleigh earlier in the week, clarifying that the two cases are not related.
Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services and the Saline County Coroner’s Office also responded to assist in the investigation. Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved. The investigation remains ongoing.
