46-year-old, Stacey R. Robbins of Fairfield, a former speech pathologist for the Fairfield Grade School District, is still awaiting her first court appearance after being charged with making false claims of a cancer diagnosis in order to solicit donations despite being formally charged with felony theft and deceptive practices.
Robbins’ initial court appearance, scheduled for yesterday (Tuesday) in Wayne County Circuit Court, has been delayed until June 9th after her attorney, Troy Parrish of Mt. Vernon, requested a continuance.
Authorities allege Robbins collected thousands of dollars through cash donations from individuals, school fundraisers, and events at the Roads Church near Norris City. Some of the collected funds reportedly came from Pink Out Volleyball fundraisers, themed school days, and a penny drive. She is also accused of obtaining over $7,000 from a GoFundMe campaign.
Robbins remains free as she awaits her new court date.
