Seasonable Weather Expected Next Few Days

Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Paducah, Kentucky say the southern Illinois region should experience fairly typical late May and early June weather the next several days.  The latest forecast indicates high temperatures in the low to mid 80s through next week, with only small chances of showers and thunderstorms around the middle and later parts of next week.

The extended forecasts indicate above normal temperatures expected for both the six to ten and 8 to 14 day outlooks, with near to above normal precipitation.   The three to four week outlook, running from June 13th through 26th, shows near normal temperatures expected and above normal precipitation.

Area river stages shows the Little Wabash River east of Fairfield still above the 17-foot flood stage.  The latest reading was 22.8 feet.  At Clay City the river was at 9.15 feet, below the 18-foot flood stage.  At Carmi the river level was 20.65 feet.  Flood stage is 27 feet.  The Skillet Fork at Wayne City was at 5.34 feet, well below the 15-foot flood stage.  The Wabash River at Mt. Carmel was at 16.92 feet, just below the 19-foot flood stage.  Bonpas Creek at Browns is at 1.97 feet.  Further south, the Ohio River at Old Shawneetown was at 33.62 feet.
