West Frankfort Community Unit School District #168 announced Monday that West Frankfort Community High School Principal Aaron Hill has resigned effective immediately.
According to a statement released by the district, the Board of Education received an irrevocable letter of resignation from Hill on Monday. School officials also announced plans to begin advertising for a new principal for the 2026-27 school year.
Hill, 53, was charged earlier this year with aggravated battery, a Class 3 felony. District Superintendent Matt Donkin previously stated the investigation stemmed from an off-campus incident and did not involve any students within the district.
The Board of Education is scheduled to hold a special meeting on Thursday, June 11, to address personnel matters. District officials said the meeting agenda and public notice will be posted at least 48 hours in advance in accordance with state law.
The district has also posted the principal position opening on its website as the search for Hill’s replacement begins.
