
Authorities said Thursday they are investigating a deceased male that was discovered inside a sport utility vehicle at the Road Ranger Truck Stop in Grayville.
According to officials, the vehicle drew attention after Road Ranger employees noticed it had remained parked in the same location since May 24th.
Officers with the Grayville Police Department and deputies from the White County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene and secured the area with crime scene tape while the investigation got underway.
White County Coroner Chris Marsh said an Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services agent was called to assist with the investigation.
The identity of the deceased has not been released pending notification of family members. Authorities said the rented SUV was displaying Kentucky license plates.
The cause and manner of death have not yet been determined. Officials say the investigation remains ongoing as an autopsy was scheduled for this (Friday) morning in Springfield.
