According to forecasters with the National Weather Service in Paducah, Kentucky, fairly typical summer heat and humidity is expected to move into the region next week, with several chances for showers and thunderstorms to develop. No severe weather is currently expected.
High temperatures could reach the low 90s by midweek. Looking further ahead, the six to ten and 8 to 14 day outlooks both favor above normal temperatures and precipitation. The latest three to four week outlook, running through July 3rd, favors above normal temperatures and equal chances for above or below normal precipitation. The 30 day outlook for the month of June also favors slightly above normal temperatures, and equal chances for above or below normal precipitation.
Some drought conditions have returned to northern and far southern Illinois, according to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor Map, with those areas being shown under a Moderate Drought. Abnormally Dry conditions are shown in central Illinois, as well as in Wayne County and areas to the south.
