97 year old Fairfield resident, Ramona Davis Reed, passed away at Fairfield Memorial Hospital Skilled Care Unit on Saturday, June 6, 2026 with her daughter, Linda by her side.
Ramona was born to Earl and Bessie (Aud) McKinney in Carbondale, Il on August 28, 1928.
A dedicated professional and cherished member of her community, Ramona lived a long and meaningful life. Over the course of her career, Ramona served as a medical receptionist at the Hubble Clinic and the Fairfield Medical Center. She later became the medical office manager for Dr. C.J. Jannings in the Mattie B. Rinard Medical Center. In addition to her work in the medical field, Ramona served as the bookkeeper for the family business, John W. Davis Truck and Tractor Service. Ramona served as the office manager for State Representative Clyde Robbins. During her retirement years, she enjoyed working part time with John and Kathy Black at Black’s Flower Shop.
Upon her passing, Ramona is believed to have been one of the last surviving member of the medical staff at the Hubble Clinic and last surviving member of the Fairfield Medical Center.
Ramona is survived by her daughter; Linda (David) Pike of Cincinnati, OH. A son in law; Jim Pranger of Fayetteville, NC. Granddaughters; Morgan (Seth) Gover of Smithville, MO and Sally (Brandon) Ratliffe of Summerville, SC. Great grandchildren; Triston, Sadie & Addi Gover and Eleanor Ratliffe. A special friend; Twyla Wilson of Fairfield, IL. Additional survivors include Jerry Reed and family of Brownstown, IL.
Ramona was preceded in death by her first husband; John W. Davis, her daughter; Donna Davis Pranger, grandson; Brian Davis Young, granddaughter; Renata Pranger, step grandson; Jonathan Reed and her second husband; John Reed.
Funeral services for Ramona Davis Reed will be at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at Nale’s Funeral Home in Fairfield. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday morning, 10:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Memorials in memory of Ramona Davis Reed may be made to the Hanna House Museum and will be accepted at the funeral home.
