
The Fairfield Community High School Varsity Scholastic Team turned in an impressive performance at the Long Island Quiz Bowl Alliance National Tournament recently held in Denver.
FCHS finished the preliminary rounds with a 4-3 record, tying for fifth place and earning a spot in the championship playoffs against some of the nation’s top teams.
The Mules recorded victories over teams from Carbon, Utah; Conifer, Colorado; Ruidoso, New Mexico; and Kremlin-Hillsdale, Oklahoma. Their losses came against teams from Jenks, Oklahoma; Elkhorn, Nebraska; Lake George, New York; and South Glens Falls, New York.
Representing Fairfield were Allison Breuer, Grady Simpson, Jedd Wellen, Jack Copeland, Ryan Vaughan, Emma Barbre, Addie Lafikes, and Mya Crippen.
The team is coached by Tammy Austin. FCHS Principal Tiffany Lyons also accompanied the group as a chaperone.
