Fairfield City Council Met Last Night

The Fairfield City Council held its monthly meeting last night at the Fairfield City Hall. The meeting opened with the city recognizing several recent retirees for their years of service. Those recognized were: Carroll Dugger, Rod Green, Jody Clark, Brad Moore, Theresa Robinson and Judy Read. The years of service among this group amounted to over 170 years, as was stated by Fairfield Mayor Gary Moore. In other business, the City Council heard from representatives from Yellin Helen’s, Napa Auto Parts, and two private individuals who own businesses that are remodeling or renovating their business properties. A bid for $194,515 was awarded to Howell Construction to mill down and repave the parking lot to the west and south of City Hall. The First Baptist Church was granted a street closing for the week of July 13th-17th for Douglas Street between South 1st and SE 2nd. Brad Young was unanimously approved by the council to fill the position of Sexton at Maple Hill Cemetery. Cole Young will fill the position as Lead Man of the Water Distribution. A watershed agreement for Lakeside Park was also approved. An Executive Session was held before adjournment of the meeting. No action was taken after the Executive Session.
