Wayne County Sheriff’s Merit Commission Accepting Applications

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Merit Commission is now accepting applications to update its hiring list for the position of Patrol Deputy. Applications are available at the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, at least 21 years old, possess a valid state-issued driver’s license, be a high school graduate or equivalent, and have no felony or criminal convictions that would prevent firearm ownership. A thorough background check is required. All applicants must complete the POWER (Peace Officer Wellness Evaluation Report) test, scheduled for June 20, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office. Those who pass will be invited to a written examination at a later date. The application deadline is the close of business on June 19th.
