Dewey Franklin Desch, Sr. (67) of Cisne, IL passed away on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN. Dewey was born on April 13, 1959, in Taylorville, IL to William Henry Desch & Martha Louise (Shewmaker) Turner.
Dewey worked as a truck driver for several trucking companies over the years. He loved four-wheeling and enjoying a beer or two with friends. What he enjoyed most was the company of his friends and family.
Dewey is survived by 2 sons: Dewey Franklin Desch, Jr. and John Clark; 3 sisters: Debra Desch, Teresa Ishmael, and Brenda (Loren) Desch-Arnold; 1 brother: William Robert “Billy” Desch, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father William Desch, his mother Martha Turner, his step-father Peter Shewmaker, his son Arvil Long, his sister Anna Nelson, and his grandparents: Dewey & Violet Desch, Corella & Jesse Grey, Walter Turner, and Goldie Turner.
Graveside funeral services for Dewey Franklin Desch, Sr. will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Pin Oak Cemetery in Sims, IL. Those attending the services are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Dewey’s memory may be made to the donor’s choice of:
- Assist with final expenses, and made payable to “Young Funeral Home”
- Animal care program, and made payable to “Little Paws of Mount Vernon”
