A tragic accident earlier this month claimed the life of a 20-month-old Albion boy.
Jesiah James Rodriguez died June 5th after being struck by a pickup truck at a relative’s home on North Lighthouse Lane near Opdyke in rural Jefferson County.
According to published reports, Jesiah had been playing inside the home when he saw a pickup truck arrive on the property. As the vehicle was backing onto the lawn, the toddler reportedly ran outside toward the truck and was accidentally run over.
Jesiah’s older brother, Quincy Hilliard, discovered the injured child and called 911. His father, Ruben Rodriguez, immediately began life-saving efforts, but the child’s injuries were too severe. Jefferson County Coroner Roger Hayse said Jesiah died from blunt force trauma to the head.
Jesiah lived in Albion with his parents, Ruben Rodriguez and Grace Noel Rendleman.
Funeral services were held June 13th at East Salem Baptist Church in Mount Vernon. Memorial contributions may be made through Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon to assist the family with funeral expenses.
