Families and outdoor enthusiasts are invited to enjoy an afternoon of fun, education and entertainment during the Rend Lake Beach Blast tomorrow (Saturday).
The event will be held from noon to 4 p.m. at South Sandusky Beach and is being organized by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District.
Activities will include beach games led by park rangers, a scavenger hunt, a sand sculpture contest and appearances by Bobber the Water Safety Dog. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet local first responders and learn more about water safety.
Live music will be provided by DJ Fast Eddie throughout the event, while a variety of food trucks will be on hand offering refreshments and meals.
One of the highlights of the afternoon will be an air-evac helicopter landing demonstration, giving visitors a close-up look at emergency medical aviation operations.
Organizers encourage families to bring their beach gear and spend the day enjoying Rend Lake while participating in the free activities.
The Beach Blast is designed to promote outdoor recreation, water safety awareness and community engagement in a fun, family-friendly environment.
