The City of Grayville has collected more than $1.2 million in local cannabis sales tax revenue since the Terrabis recreational marijuana dispensary opened in June 2023.
The dispensary collects a 3% local tax on cannabis sales. City records show Terrabis has generated more than $1.12 million in tax revenue, including nearly $194,200 so far this year.
Grayville collected about $126,700 in cannabis tax revenue during 2023, followed by more than $549,000 in 2024 and nearly $448,000 in 2025.
Mayor Travis Thompson said the funds have been used to support the city’s revolving loan fund, demolish dilapidated properties and help pay the salary of a fourth police officer.
Under Illinois law, adults 21 and older may purchase recreational cannabis products, although purchases are limited for out-of-state residents. Cannabis purchased at the dispensary may not be consumed in public, and the Grayville Terrabis location does not currently sell medical marijuana. The facility is located just north of I-64.
