The Illinois State Police are investigating the death of a 5-month-old child in Centralia.
According to the Centralia Police Department, officers, firefighters and EMS personnel responded at approximately 5:05 p.m. Saturday to the 1000 block of Maulding Drive after receiving a report of an unresponsive infant.
The child was transported to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia, where the infant was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child’s death has been turned over to the Illinois State Police.
The Centralia Police Department said no additional information is being released at this time as the investigation remains ongoing.
