Geff Community Consolidated School District #14 is pleased to announce the hiring of its newest Superintendent and Principal, Dr. Patrick Rice. Dr. Rice comes to Geff from his most recent role as Superintendent of Schools in Cairo, where he served for four years. Additionally, Dr. Rice is currently, and will remain, a clinical professor at the University of Illinois, Instructing Superintendents and Principals focusing on Education Policy and Organizational Leadership. In addition to the ten years Dr. Rice served as the Director of Field Services and Equity Director for the Illinois Association of School Boards, Dr. Rice has served as principal at multiple schools, as needed, for a total of eight years, has written four books, and has over twenty publications in journals of advanced learning. Geff Grade School is excited for Dr. Rice to impart his experience and knowledge upon our students and our community. His accomplishments at previous districts display his insight that individual education and the community go hand-in-hand. When asked why he chose education, he responded with, “Education is the catalyst that helps individuals cultivate their natural talents to find their purpose and use to identify, foster, and/or develop other skill sets.” His time at Geff Grade School began July 14th, and the Board of Education extends its appreciation to all individuals who participated in the search process and looks forward to welcoming Dr. Rice to the Geff community. Outgoing Superintendent, Dr. Michelle Hassan, will be relocating closer to family to welcome the birth of a new grandchild. We wish her the absolute best in her new role as Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources at Fenton High School in Bensenville, Illinois, and have appreciated her time and efforts here at Geff Grade School.
