TWO-VEHICLE ACCIDENT INJURES TWO ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON

Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputies and Fairfield Rural Firefighters responded to a two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon around 1:00 p.m. on County Highway 1 (Enterprise Road) near County Road 1700 N. The crash report states that Angela Vineyard, 53, of McLeansboro, was traveling northbound in a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado when she slowed and attempted a turn into a private driveway. Ina Petersheim, 19, of Mattoon, was also traveling northbound in a 2006 Toyota Sedan behind the Vineyard vehicle and failed to slow down, causing her to rear-end the Silverado. Both drivers were transported to Fairfield Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Both vehicles were also towed from the scene. Petersheim was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to avoid an accident.
