The Annual Parkersburg Chowder is just around the corner. According to organizers, the highlight of the Parkersburg Chowder is the annual parade stepping off at 1:00 p.m. The parade will be led through downtown Parkersburg by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department. Organizers say that at around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 25th, the morning of the chowder, the road on the west side of the park becomes a one-way road to accommodate the “drive-through chowder lane.” Serving time inside the Parkersburg Community Building begins at 10:30 a.m., depending on the progress of the chowder. The “Chowder Committee” says they plan to cook approximately 800 gallons of chowder. Proceeds from the chowder go to the Parkersburg Oak Hill Cemetery. The Parkersburg Chowder will offer chowder by the bowl and carryout.
