On Thursday afternoon, Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 66-year-old John Melton of Fairfield on an October 2024 Petition to Revoke Warrant for a 2020 conviction of Possession of a Controlled Substance. Melton was transported to the Wayne County Jail to await an appearance in Wayne County Circuit Court on July 28th.
Also on Thursday afternoon, Roy D. Finley, 49, of Fairfield, was arrested on a White County warrant for Aggravated Battery and Disorderly Conduct. The warrant stems from an altercation between Finley and White County attorney Jonathan Turpin, in which Finley is accused of striking Turpin with his truck door during an argument on June 30th. Finley was initially booked into the Wayne County Jail before being transferred to the White County Jail.
