Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to two separate vehicle accidents over the weekend. On Saturday evening, around 9:00 p.m., Carol A. Barnard of Fairfield reported to deputies that she had struck a deer in the roadway on County Highway 9 at the intersection with County Road 1100 N. The vehicle sustained over $1,500 in damage and was towed from the scene. No injuries were reported from the crash.
On Sunday night, at 9:53 p.m., deputies and emergency personnel responded to a report of an accident at the intersection of W. Main Street and 1st Street in Fairfield. Conner M. Atteberry, 21, of Fairfield, was traveling westbound on Main Street in a 2012 Ford F-150 when he ran the red light at the intersection with First Street and collided with a 2023 Dodge Ram being driven by Jayden B. Lewis of Fairfield. Lewis’s vehicle was a City of Fairfield Police Department patrol truck. Both drivers were transported to Fairfield Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries. Both vehicles sustained over $1,500 in damages and were towed from the scene. Atteberry was ticketed for Disregarding a Traffic Control Device.
