Lars Nootbaar drove in three runs for the Cards, who are just 2-and-5 since the break. The Redbirds host the Reds tonight.

(Undated) — The Ravens shook up their roster on Thursday. Baltimore waived rookie quarterback Diego Pavia to make room for veteran center Ethan Pocic. The Ravens signed Pavia as a rookie free agent after he became the first Heisman Trophy finalist in 12 years to go undrafted. Pavia led Vanderbilt to its first season in school history with double-digit wins after going 10-and-3 last year. Baltimore’s first full-team practice of training camp is Wednesday.

(Las Vegas, NV) — Fernando Mendoza is officially a Las Vegas Raider after signing his rookie contract. The first overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft inked a four-year, 57.3-million-dollar deal as rookies reported to training camp. The fully-guaranteed contract includes a team option for a fifth season. Mendoza is expected to start the season as the backup to 37-year-old quarterback Kirk Cousins.

(Chicago, IL) — The Blackhawks are reuniting with a franchise icon, signing forward Patrick Kane to a two-year, 16-million-dollar deal today. The 37-year-old is returning to the team that drafted him in 2007 after spending the past three seasons with the rival Detroit Red Wings. Kane helped lead the Hawks to three Stanley Cup titles over 16 seasons.

Tom Hoge, Sam Stevens and Peter Malnati will be among the first group of players teeing off round two.
