Illinois Extension serving Edwards, Lawrence, Richland, Wabash, and Wayne counties has announced the 2026 inductees into the Illinois 4-H Hall of Fame, recognizing volunteers who have made lasting contributions to their local 4-H programs. Among this year’s honorees are Shannon and Travis Mix of Wayne County, who served as leaders of the 4-H Country Club for nine years before retiring in 2025. Illinois Extension officials said the couple’s dedication to mentoring youth and leading by example helped strengthen the county’s 4-H program and create a welcoming environment for members. he 2026 Hall of Fame inductees will be recognized during a ceremony on Aug. 15 at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield during their respective county exhibit day. The Illinois 4-H Hall of Fame honors individuals, couples, and families whose outstanding service has had a lasting impact on local 4-H programs across the state.
Also being recognized are:
Deb Weger of Lawrence County, who has led the Russell Community 4-H Club for 28 years while emphasizing leadership, community service, and personal growth among club members.
Lora Kocher of Richland County, a former 4-H member and third-generation club leader who has volunteered as the Country Clovers club leader for the past nine years while remaining active in her community.
Richard Gochenour of Wabash County, whose volunteer work has helped improve the horse arena at the Wabash County Fairgrounds through projects including drainage improvements and construction of a new announcer’s booth.
