Fairfield Memorial Hospital has recognized Christy Simpson, RN, manager of the Skilled Care Unit, as the recipient of the hospital’s first-ever Manager of the Quarter Award. The award honors leaders who demonstrate integrity, servant leadership, teamwork, and a strong commitment to the hospital’s mission of providing exceptional patient care. Simpson joined Fairfield Memorial Hospital as a nursing leader in November 2023 and has been recognized for her leadership, dedication to residents and staff, and commitment to creating a positive work environment within the Skilled Care Unit. “Christy truly embodies what it means to be a servant leader,” said Hollie Barrett, MSN, RN, CRHCP, Chief Nursing Officer at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. “She consistently puts the needs of her residents, team members, and organization first. Whether stepping in to assist with direct patient care, encouraging her staff, or finding innovative ways to improve the resident experience, Christy leads with compassion, integrity, and excellence.” Hospital officials said Simpson has frequently filled certified nursing assistant and nursing shifts during staffing shortages to help ensure uninterrupted patient care. Under her leadership, the Skilled Care Unit also received some of the organization’s highest employee engagement survey scores. The Skilled Care Unit has once again been recognized among the nation’s top skilled nursing facilities, earning designation as one of U.S. News & World Report’s Best Nursing Homes. Fairfield Memorial Hospital said the new Manager of the Quarter Award reflects its commitment to recognizing leaders who strengthen workplace culture, inspire excellence, and make a lasting impact on patients, residents, employees, and the community.
