Illinois Extension has announced the 2026 Illinois 4-H Hall of Fame inductees for Clay, Wayne and Richland counties, recognizing volunteers who have made lasting contributions to their local 4-H programs.
In Clay County, Rocky and Anita Allen were selected for their longtime dedication to the county’s 4-H program. The couple has served as leaders of the All Around Gang 4-H Club, mentoring members through projects and activities while encouraging participation by generations of 4-H youth, including their own grandchildren. Rocky Allen has also served as rabbit and poultry superintendent, helping exhibitors develop their skills and confidence.
In Wayne County, Shannon and Travis Mix will be inducted after spending nine years leading the 4-H Country Club before retiring as club leaders in 2025. Wayne County 4-H Program Coordinator Ryan Littlejohn said the couple’s commitment expanded opportunities for local youth and helped create a positive and welcoming 4-H community.
Representing Richland County is Lora Kocher, a former 4-H member and third-generation club leader. Despite maintaining a full-time career and an active role in her community, Kocher has served as leader of the Country Clovers 4-H Club for the past nine years. Extension officials praised her passion for 4-H, dependability and willingness to help others.
The inductees will be recognized during a ceremony on August 15th at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield during their respective county exhibit day.
The Illinois 4-H Hall of Fame recognizes individuals and couples whose volunteer service has made a significant impact on local 4-H programs and the youth they serve.
