FNB Community Bank is warning customers to be on alert after receiving reports of scammers posing as bank representatives.
According to the bank, customers have received phone calls claiming a large transaction is attempting to clear their account. The callers then send an email directing customers to click a link or button to reject the transaction.
The bank reminds customers never to click links or buttons in unexpected emails regarding account activity and to be cautious of callers who create a sense of urgency or fear.
Customers should never provide personal information, passwords, online banking credentials, or security codes over the phone.
Anyone who receives a suspicious call is encouraged to hang up and contact FNB Community Bank directly using a trusted phone number to verify any account activity.
Bank officials say, “When in doubt, don’t click and don’t provide information. Contact the bank directly.”
