Jerry Franklin Owen, 85, of Grayville, Illinois, passed away peacefully oJerry Franklin Owen, 85, of Grayville, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 6, 2026, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of faith, family, love and service. He was born on February 16,1941, in Grayville, the son of Chester and Genevieve (Rudisill) Owen. Jerry grew into a man whose greatest accomplishments were not measured by a career or possessions, but by the lives he touched and the family he loved dearly. In 1962, he married Lena A. Wolf beginning a life together that became the foundation of their family.
Jerry devoted 32 years of his life to Caterpillar Tractor Company. where he took pride in his work and formed friendships that lasted throughout the years.
He was a respected leader in his community, always willing to serve, help, and give himself to others. Above all, Jerry was a devoted Christian. His faith was not simply something he professed, it was something he lived. He believed in serving others, loving his family, and trusting in his Lord and Savior. Jerry was a man his family could look to for strength, guidance, and an example of what it means to live a life grounded in faith.
Jerry was deeply proud of his family. He is survived by his wife, Lena Owen; his daughter, Joyce (Kevin) York; his son, Kevin (Pam) Owen; grandchildren, Tiffany (Ron) Cowles, Amber Elliot, Joseph (Amanda) Polston, Ayrton Owen, Emily Owen and Nigel Owen; great-grandchildren, Alexis McKenzie, Matthew Cowles, Keeley Polston and Marlee Cowles; brothers, Jim (Judy) Owen and Robert Owen and sister-in-law, Wanda (John) Bohach.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Jerry’s family was his greatest blessing, and his love for them will continue to live on through every generation. His stories, his wisdom, his sense of humor, his faith and simple moments shared together will become treasured memories that his family cherishes
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Haven on the River, Erica, Becca, Angie, Meghan and Missy, for their compassionate care. Their kindness, love and support have carried us through. The family is grateful for the care and support of  Rick Connor whom Jerry had a close knit friendship with for over 30 years.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2026, in the chapel of Roberts and Cook Funeral Service, 221 North 1st Street, Grayville, Illinois with Pastors Dennis Seidel and Tom Millar officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Grayville. Family and friends may visit from12:00 p.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jerry’s memory may be made to Grayville Senior Citizen’s Center or Northside Baptist Church and will be accepted by Roberts and Cook Funeral Service has been entrusted with arrangements.
