By Mark Wells Aug 8, 2026 | 6:37 AM

The Illinois State Fair is bringing back one of its most requested services, with free tram rides available throughout this year’s 11-day fair.

The service, supported by the Illinois Corn Growers Association, will feature two trams traveling a dedicated route around the fairgrounds. The trams will be free for all fairgoers and are handicap accessible.

Trams will operate from noon to 8 p.m. on most weekdays and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends and Monday, August 17.

Stops will include several major destinations around the fairgrounds, including Happy Hollow, the Illinois Building and Senior Center, Conservation World, the campground and Arena, 4-H Master Gardens, Goat Barn, Half-Mile Track, Hobbies Arts & Crafts Building and the Route 66 Experience area.

Maps showing the tram route will be posted throughout the fairgrounds.

Wheelchair and scooter rentals will also be available at the Senior Center inside the Illinois Building and near the Goat Barn on Grandstand Avenue. Handicap parking will be available at Gates 4, 7 and 11.

The 2026 Illinois State Fair runs August 13 through August 23 in Springfield.
