The Fairfield Community High School Alumni Association has announced plans for its annual Alumni Banquet, which will be held Saturday, October 3rd at the Fairfield Elks Lodge as part of the school’s 100th anniversary celebration.

Registration will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by a social hour from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. This year’s featured speakers will be Class of 1976 representative Diana Zurliene and Alumni Association speaker Linda Monge.

Dinner guests may choose from prime rib, smothered chicken breast, or smothered chicken thigh. Registration is $30 per person, and reservations may be made through the Alumni Association’s online registration form at: https://forms.gle/CuzRJrsfFgqBhrWZ7

Zurliene, a member of the Bicentennial Class of 1976, earned degrees from Olney Central College and Eastern Illinois University before returning to Fairfield. She taught science and health at FCHS beginning in 1985, later serving as dean of students, principal, and superintendent of Fairfield Public School District before retiring in 2019 after a 33-year career in education. Today, Zurliene serves as secretary of the FCHS Alumni Association, is a member of the FCHS Foundation Board, a special trustee of the Fairfield Elks Lodge, and is active at St. Edward Catholic Church.

As the Class of 1976 celebrates its 50th reunion, Zurliene said she looks forward to sharing memories of her classmates and reflecting on the opportunities Fairfield Community High School provided her as a student, teacher, coach, and administrator, reminding fellow graduates, “Once a Mule, Always a Mule.”
