YOUTH GOLF:
On Monday, the First Annual Fairfield Junior Golf Scramble was held at the Fairfield Public Golf Course. The scramble was free to enter and open to all Wayne County Junior golfers ages 18 and under. Each team featured a mix of older and younger golfers playing together in a scramble format. The winning team of Nora Oliver, Andrew Hutcheson, Jonathan Dawkins, Eli Musgrave, and Deacon Robson shot a 4-under 31 to take the win. A putting contest was held before the scramble with winners in three different age groups, Axel Doty, Eli Musgrave, and Amelia Hopfinger. A closest-to-the-pin contest was held on the #18 island green with winners in different age groups, Corbin Harrell, Colton Harrell, Amelia Hopfinger, and Cooper Berg. 42 young men and women participated in the event, which was organized by Jim Musgrave, whose junior golf initiative is aiming to increase area youth involvement in golf. The event was supported by several volunteers and parents with DiMaggio’s Pizza providing lunch.

Jaxson Dart drew a reaction from the Giants’ defense during Monday’s practice after choosing to slide following a third-down run. Dart was examined for a concussion on five different occasions last year.
