A Crossville man has been sentenced to 4½ years in prison after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm.
McGwire Aschenbrenner, 24, was sentenced Monday in White County Circuit Court. In addition to his prison term, he must serve six months of mandatory supervised release and received credit for 62 days already served in the White County Jail.
Aschenbrenner was arrested by Grayville Police on April 26 after witnesses reported seeing him pull a .22-caliber handgun and fire several rounds on South Street in Grayville. No one was injured.
Police initially transported Aschenbrenner to Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville for a mental health evaluation. However, authorities said he left the hospital against medical advice before a warrant could be served. He was later located in Grayville and taken into custody.
