The Fairfield Grade School District Board of Education met Monday night, receiving updates on food service, transportation and several district policies.
Superintendent Kristina Gardner reported the district’s current food service balance stands at $270,244.43. The district also recently purchased a new convection oven for the North Side School kitchen.
Gardner provided an update on the district’s bus fleet. Several buses underwent state inspections, while additional maintenance included oil changes, fluid replacement, brake work and a horn repair. The largest expense was $1,361.27 for work on Bus #5, which included an oil change, fluid service, state inspection and replacement of the brakes.
The board also discussed possible camera upgrades for district buses and other transportation programs available through Transfinder.
Board members completed the second reading of PRESS Policy 122 and addressed annual approvals involving hazardous safety conditions, the district’s Risk Management Plan and Bullying Prevention Policy.
Gardner also reported the district is contracting through Bridge Therapy for a virtual speech and language pathologist. The arrangement will remain in place while the district continues efforts to hire an in-person speech and language pathologist.
The board later entered closed session. No action was taken on closed-session matters after members returned to open session.
