Braden Montgomery drove in two runs and Andrew Benintendi plated the other for the Southsiders, who finished 4-and-2 on their road trip. Tyrone Taylor had the only two hits for the Cubs, who went 3-and-3 on their homestand. The Sox host the Braves today in a makeup game, while the Cubs visit Seattle tomorrow.

(Houston, TX) — The Houston Texans will play this season without one of their top offensive performers. Wide receiver Jayden Higgins was ruled out for the upcoming campaign after tearing his ACL during Tuesday’s joint practice with the Las Vegas Raiders. Higgins was penciled in as a starter this season after catching 41 passes for 525 yards and six touchdowns as a rookie in 2025.

(Renton, WA) — The Seattle Seahawks are adding depth in the defensive secondary, signing free agent Trevon Diggs to a one-year deal yesterday. The 27-year-old is hoping to recapture the form that led to an NFL-leading 11 interceptions while playing for the Dallas Cowboys in 2021. Injuries have since limited Diggs to 22 games over the past three seasons. Seattle’s signing of Diggs followed reports that free agent Terrion Arnold is out of the picture because of his legal issues.

(Undated) — A multi team deal is done in the NBA. According to ESPN, the Cavaliers, Nuggets and Clippers have agreed on a trade that will send Peyton Watson to Cleveland and Max Strus to Los Angeles. As part of the multi team trade, Denver will receive an unprotected 2031 Cavs first round pick and a 2032 Sacramento Kings second rounder. Watson is also expected to sign a new four-year, 88-million-dollar deal that includes a player option and trade kicker. The Clippers are sending a 2027 second rounder acquired from the Sixers to Cleveland via a trade exception. As part of the deal, the Cavs sent Mann, the 2027 second rounder from the Clippers and cash to the Washington Wizards for Cam Whitmore. The Wizards also are sending Julian Reese to the Nuggets.

(Phoenix, AZ) — New details are emerging from Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte’s no-show in Boston on Monday. Manager Torey Lovullo says the three-time All-Star apparently traveled back to Phoenix for tests on a sore left knee. Marte was placed on baseball’s restricted list when he decided to skip the D’Backs’ loss to the Red Sox without communicating his plans to the ballclub.
