A small earthquake was recorded late Wednesday night just south of the Ohio River, with some residents in the Metropolis area reporting minor shaking.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the magnitude 2.3 earthquake occurred at approximately 11:35 p.m. Wednesday.
The earthquake originated at a depth of approximately 8.6 miles below the surface.
A few reports of light shaking were received from the Metropolis area following the earthquake.
No damage or injuries have been reported.
